Today I met this dude, John Humphrey Noyes, the founder of the Oneida Community (another utopian society.) This community has much stricter practices though on the opposite spectrum as the Shakers. They practiced complex marriages between a young and an old partner, as well as Stirpiculture which was a selective breeding deemed to create the perfect child. Noyes was kind of a freak if you ask me-treating his society like animals needing to be bred but at least it was peaceful...right?
